In Isro’s new video, rover Pragyan roams around Shiv Shakti Point to unlock ‘lunar secrets’ | India NewsWORLD NEWS


NEW DELHI: The Indian Space Research Organisation (Isro) on Saturday released yet another video of the Chandrayaan-3 mission, this time showing the rover Pragyan navigating the lunar surface.

“Pragyan rover roams around Shiv Shakti Point in pursuit of lunar secrets at the South Pole!” the space agency posted on X (formerly Twitter).

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday announced that Chandrayaan 3‘s landing point on the Moon will now be known as “Shiv Shakti Point”.
Meanwhile, the place where the Chandrayaan-2 lander crash-landed on the Moon’s surface in 2019 would be known as “Tiranga Point”.
Isro has been giving regular updates about the historic moon mission on its social media handle.
The agency on Friday said that all planned rover movements have been verified and that it has successfully traversed a distance of about 8 metres.
It added that rover payloads LIBS and APXS are also turned on. APXS is the Alpha Particle X-ray Spectrometer while LIBS stands for Laser Induced Breakdown Spectroscope.
It had also released two videos showing how the rover was deployed from the lander Vikram’s belly with the help of a two-segment ramp.
The two videos, posted separetely, showed the ramp being deployed from the lander and the rover rolling down onto the lunar surface.
