Throwback: When Shah Rukh Khan said, ‘My job is to create markets for India’ | Hindi Movie NewsWORLD NEWS

Shah Rukh Khan is called Badshah for a reason. The way he has conquered the box office in India as well as overseas is absolutely unparalleled. He was one of the first actors to understand the power of overseas markets and began releasing his films in a big way there. It all started with Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge and he followed it up with films like Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham, Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna, My Name Is Khan, and by the time Pathaanreleased, he had achieved an envious position.Pathaan today stands as the second (first being Baahubali 2-The Conclusion) highest grossing film in a market like the United States of America which traditionally hasn’t been as great for Hindi movies. He has also opened up markets like Germany, Australia, UAE etc.
In a video that is now doing the rounds of the internet, SRK explained why he stresses on opening up newer markets for Indian movies. “It is my duty that my country that has made me such a big star, I become the ambassador of Indian Cinema and open up markets around the world with my films. Because I can take a chance … a bit of loss in so much profit doesn’t hurt much,” he said.
“My job is not to attract money from abroad to make my film here… I have enough money in India. My job is to create eyeballs from the rest of the world. If there are eyeballs then money will follow. I want to make films and create markets for India,” he added
Shah Rukh Khan’s upcoming film Jawan is also creating quite a buzz not only in India but across the globe. The advance booking of the film has already opened in markets like the USA, UAE, Germany, Australia, Saudi Arabia etc.
