Samadhi

Thousands of years ago, India was a ‘knowledge centre’ for the scholars of entire world. The architects of this society were the scientists known as Rishies & Munies.

Apart from the skill based subjects; the spiritualism was the ‘rare knowledge’ being given to worthy disciples by the Guru in Gurukuls and kept alive through generations.

Spiritualism believes in the existence of an entity called spirit present in all living beings. This concept cannot be explained through logic alone, not it can be captured by our senses. According to spiritualism, the aim of life is to liberate the spirit from the worldly attachment and surrender itself to the paramatma (the supreme spirit). The living body & attached soul is always engrossed in the illusion of worldly attachments. Therefore life is a sadhana or constant effort for getting into sanyas or the state of non- attachment.

When someone dies in the state of non attachment it is known as moksh (libration). But when someone lives in the state of liberation like a yogi, it is described as smadhi, a mental state of ultimate achievement for a person.

Once you reach in this state, you become a new person and the old seeker dies. It is a migration to a new state of mind which is the best possible state. But the changes are not external or in the body. The changes are related to the mind. After reaching in the state of Samadhi, your perception changes, but the physical body remains the same. It happens suddenly in a blink, but you may take ages to reach to this position.

This is not a mere arbitrary belief system. There is scientific logic behind this philosophy. But the science behind this is forgotten under the influence of western lifestyle.
