The advance booking of Shah Rukh Khan starrer ‘Jawan’ opened on Friday morning and looks like fans were just waiting to occupy the seats! The numbers coming in are similar to the opening records of ‘Pathaan’.
The film has sold 2.6 lakh tickets for the Hindi show in 2D and IMAX formats while the Tamil and Telugu have contributed around 4700 tickets, according to Sacnilk.The report further stated that ‘Jawan’ has managed to sell 271176 tickets till now, earning the movie Rs 8.98 crore in advance booking.
Manoj Desai, executive director of G7 multiplex and Maratha Mandir Cinema, revealed that shows for Thursday are already houseful while the opening weekend also looks promising. “Jawan advance booking has been extraordinary. It has recreated the wave of Pathaan and Gadar 2, as tickets are selling like hot cakes. All shows are full for Thursday and the weekend is also nearly houseful.” Fans of SRK have also booked early morning shows at the Gaiety and Galaxy theatres in Mumbai’s Bandra area. Confirming the same, Manoj Desai added, “Yes, fans have booked the entire theatre for the 6am shows. The response to Jawan has been blockbuster but the final verdict will be out on Thursday, when the audiences give their review.”
Directed by Atlee, ‘Jawan’ stars SRK in the lead with Nayanthara playing the leading lady and Vijay Sethupathi the antagonist. At a pre-release event of the movie, SRK showered praise on Vijay and said, “will take a moment and tell you how much I love Vijay sir. I met him in Melbourne. I heard him talking in Tamil; I assume it was about that instance. And one day we were here, for Nayanthara ji’s wedding, and I finally met him. Then we all decided to work together. I cannot tell you how much I have learned from you.”
