‘One thing is common, we have no clue when…’: Misbah-ul-Haq on Pakistan’s meek surrender | Cricket NewsWORLD NEWS

NEW DELHI: Pakistan’s seven-wicket debacle against India in the World Cup match on Sunday drew criticism from all quarters with former players lashing out at the team for their meek surrender.
Former Pakistan captain Misbah-ul-Haq raised the issue of Pakistan batters’ problem against spin bowling and how they allow opposition spinners to bowl according to their field.

“It’s simple. When you talk about Pakistan’s problems, if you look back at the Asia Cup and the 2019 World Cup, one thing is common, we have no clue when we play on slow pitches. We get stuck against spin,” Misbah told A-Sports.
“Even we don’t take on fast bowlers, we don’t take on against bowling [attack], we wait, and it leads to unsurmountable pressure, which leads to mistakes and wickets,” he added.

Misbah also batted for the inclusion of Usama Mir in the squad in place of Shadab Khan as he addressed the performance of Pakistan’s spin department of Mohammad Nawaz and Shadab.
“I think Nawaz is still bowling well [as compared to Shadab], if you see his performance from the last 2-3 matches, he is batting with confidence. However, Shadab, even if you look at today’s bowling [against India] he didn’t have that confidence to land the ball at the right place,” Misbah said.

“When you are playing T20 cricket [for a long time] and you have to play 50-over cricket suddenly, it gets difficult. If you have all these problems, then you have a bowler in your squad in Usama Mir, and it’s time you go for him.
“The situation is now that every game has become a do-or-die contest,” he added.
Pakistan’s fourth match of the 2023 World Cup will see them facing Australia at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru on October 20.
