Oppo’s Find X7 Ultra comes with two periscope zoom cameras, a 1-inch sensor, and Hasselblad tuning

Oppo has launched its latest flagship phones, the Find X7 Ultra and Find X7, in China. There is a whole lot of new about these two new phones, but what’s first is a pair of periscope zoom cameras on the Find X7 Ultra – that comes paired with a 1-inch type sensor and an ultrawide unit – all having a 50MP resolution and Hasselblad tuning. Here’s all you need to know about Oppo’s new Find X7 Ultra.
The “HyperTone Camera System” of Find X7 Ultra comes with four rear Hasselblad-tuned cameras. One of the cameras provides a 3x zoom and uses a 1/1.56-inch IMX890 sensor, which is the largest telephoto sensor present in any smartphone. The second periscope lens, which is a Sony IMX858 sensor, provides a 6x optical zoom with a 1/2.51-inch sensor. The primary camera has Sony’s second-gen 1-inch sensor, the LYT-900, having an f/1.8 aperture, OIS, a 23mm focal length, and a 50% reduction in lens reflection. The ultra-wide camera features a 1/1.95-inch Sony LYT-600 sensor with an f/2.0 aperture, having a 14mm equivalent focal length and focus of as close as 4cm.
Oppo is also introducing the HyperTone Image Engine, which promises to enhance computational photography results for HDR and merges objective quality with subjective emotional aspects. Oppo plans to roll out this technology to compatible devices such as the Find N and Reno series.
In collaboration with the camera maker Hasselblad, Oppo has also introduced “Hasselblad Portrait Mode” which enables realistic portrait shots with cinematic bokeh and high accuracy. Then, there is “Hasselblad Master Mode,” which includes fine-tuning characteristics like saturation, contrast, sharpness, and vignette control, as well as manual adjustments for ISO, shutter speed, EV, focus, and white balance. The Master Mode offers RAW MAX capture that supports 13 stops of dynamic range and 16-bit colour depth in the BT2020 colour space.
Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset powers the Find X7 Ultra. The chipset comes paired with up to 16GB of LPDDR5X RAM and up to 512GB of UFS 4.0 storage. The phone comes with an aerospace-grade cooling system. It runs ColorOS 14 on top of Android 14. There’s a 5,000mAh battery backing up the phone, which supports 100W wired and 50W wireless charging.
The Find X7 Ultra features a 6.82 inches AMOLED screen with a resolution of 3,168 x 1,440 and a 120Hz refresh rate, having a peak brightness of 4,500 nits. The panel supports ultra-low touch latency and “rainwater touch” support for wet hands. The phone also has an IP68 dust and water-resistance rating.
The phone comes with a three-stage slider, but the purpose has been a little different on this one. The slider, called the “VIP slider,” can be used for quickly changing notification mode or cutting off camera, location, and microphone access for an extreme privacy mode.
The Find X7 Ultra comes in three color options – Ocean Blue, Sepia Brown, and Tailored Black, all of which have a vegan leather cover.
Oppo Find X7 Ultra is priced at CNY 5,999 (around Rs 71,000) and onwards. The Find X7 Ultra will only be available in China, as Oppo does not seem to have any plans to release it in the international markets.
