Gulf widens: Taywade pins down Bhujbal, Wadettiwar for misleading OBCs | India Newsworld news

NAGPUR: The split in the OBC leadership is getting wider soon after the state government’s notification to grant Kunbi certificates to Marathas by introducing the ‘sage soyare’ (blood relatives) clause. National OBC Federation leader Baban Taywade on Tuesday blamed state food and civil supplies minister Chhagan Bhujbal, leader of Opposition Vijay Wadettiwar and others for misleading the community.
Bhujbal and Wadettiwar — both senior leaders of NCP (Ajit Pawar) faction and Congress — lambasted the government for issuing the notification, claiming the OBC community would be critically hit with over 1.5 crore new Marathas eligible for quota.
The widening gulf in the OBC brass was visible after Wadettiwar convened a meeting of community leaders in Mumbai to discuss the government’s notification on Tuesday, but did not invite Taywade despite both being Congressmen. The OBC federation chief confirmed to TOI he did not receive any invite and it would not have been possible for him to go to Mumbai due to prior engagements.
Addressing a press meet here, Taywade said he will personally meet both Bhujbal and Wadettiwar to clear their confusion on the issue.
