Princess Anne was released from the hospital after a 5-night stay after sustaining head injuries believed to have been caused by a horse. The 73-year-old sister of King Charles has returned to her home at Gatcombe Park in southwest England to recuperate. Her medical team will determine when she can return to her public duties.
Anne’s husband, Tim Laurence, expressed his gratitude to the staff at Southmead Hospital and said, “I would like to extend my warmest thanks to all the team at Southmead Hospital for their care, expertise and kindness during my wife’s short stay.”
The incident occurred on Sunday while Anne was walking on her estate grounds, with horses nearby.Her medical team said that the head injuries were consistent with impact from a horse’s head or legs. A royal source revealed that Anne, a former Olympic equestrian, had suffered a concussion and was unable to recall the details of the incident.
As a result of the injury, Anne’s upcoming engagements have been postponed, including a planned trip to Canada. The Palace had initially stated on Monday that she was expected to make a full recovery. However, her medical team has advised her to rest and recover before resuming her royal duties.
