‘UK’s most dangerous men’ Robert Maudsley locked in jail behind 17 steel doorsWORLD NEWS

Robert Maudsley, a 70-year-old serial killer considered one of the most dangerous men in the UK, has been confined in a glass cage reminiscent of Hannibal Lecter‘s cell for the past 45 years due to his threat to other inmates, UK Mirror reported.
Despite already being imprisoned for murder, Maudsley went on to brutally kill three more prisoners while behind bars.
In their new book, ‘Inside Wakefield Prison: Life Behind Bars in the Monster Mansion,’ authors Jonathan Levi and Emma French delve into the details of Maudsley’s cell. They write: “Today, in Wakefield Prison, Maudsley is kept in confinement for twenty-three hours of the day. Everything in his cell is made of cardboard, and you have to go through 17 steel doors to get to it.”
The authors spoke with a prison contact named Pete, who was familiar with Maudsley and referred to his solitary confinement cell as “the strongbox.” Pete expressed his belief that Maudsley would kill again if released, stating, “The sad thing is, if he were living with someone else, he’d kill somebody else. It’d have been more humane to just put him down.”
Levi and French also explored the various descriptions of the “perspex cell” provided by different contributors. Pete described the cell as having metal framing with thick Perspex, allowing for visibility into the cell. Another source mentioned that the cell, sometimes referred to as a “dungeon,” has a concrete plinth, an industrial blanket, and an industrial dress for Maudsley.
Maudsley’s criminal history began with the strangulation of child molester John Farrell in Wood Green, London, after Farrell showed him pictures of children he had sexually abused.
In 1977, Maudsley and another inmate, David Cheeseman, tortured and killed child molester David Francis in a locked cell, leading to Maudsley’s conviction for manslaughter and transfer to HMP Wakefield. His crimes escalated further in 1978 when he strangled and stabbed Salney Darwood, 46, and then killed paedophile Bill Roberts, 56, by stabbing him and smashing his head into a wall.
